National Night Out
VIP Community Services participates in a “National Night Out” to honor and serve the Bronx community. This annual event promotes community and police partnership and was particularly emotional because it highlighted the loss of local teenager Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, who was brutally killed at the hands of the alleged Trinatarios gang. VIP Community Services and the New York Police Department (NYPD) are working together as community partners for National Night Out, a nationwide effort to partner law enforcement and the communities they serve in a positive way. The NYPD coordinates in each borough through their local precinct for the event. Our precinct is #48 in Bronx County. Each year, this event is held on a different street or area within each precinct, and this year’s event will be held at 187 & 188 Street & Hughes Avenue.
VIP Community Services and other community-based organizations will be displaying information about their many programs. It’s a fun event with police manning booths and playing games with the children, pony rides, hot dogs, burgers, ices, ice cream, and popcorn (carnival style) at no cost to the community.
