Staff Picnic at Tremont Park
Health Fair at Tremont Park
It was a hot summer day in the Bronx at Tremont Park. There were many children at the park enjoying the weather with friends and family. The Story Hour with our Director of Health & Wellness was well attended by the children under a cool tent. A clown created fun things with the children, including making animal balloons and creating funny faces for the children with face painting.
The Bronx continues to experience disparities in pediatric health care. For example, children in the Bronx are 3.5 times more likely to be hospitalized for asthma than children in the other boroughs. Correspondingly, when factored by race and ethnicity, the disparities are even more shocking. Statistics released by the Citizen’s Committee for Children of New York, Inc., in 2017, showed that over 40% of the children in the Bronx live below 100% of the federal poverty guideline.
With these striking statistics in mind, VIP will be providing comprehensive services to children from birth to 18 years old. We understand children are our future!
